Beginning July 1, 2011, there will be new and updated permit fees for wells drilled in Duval County. All wells will now have a permit fee and the increase in existing permit fees are substantial.
Previously, the only wells requiring a permit in Duval County were commercial and residential Floridian Aquifer (Artesian) wells. The rates for these wells were $90 for commercial use and $20 for residential use. After July 1st, 2011, the permit rates for Artesian wells are $300 for either commercial or residential. As you can see, this represents a substantial increase that must be accounted for when quoting a well.
The new fees also impact wells that previously did not require permit fees. These wells are shallow than Artesian wells. and consist mainly of your rock wells and shallow wells. The new permit fee for these wells in residential applications is $150. Commercial fees vary between either $150 or $175 depending on intended use.
There are more fees associated with a variety of other wells drilled in Duval County, but for the purpose of this article and scope of work for Florida Pump Service, we are only mentioning the commercial and residential fees.
For more information you can visit the well permitting page at City of Jacksonville online. Or by clicking here.
To go straight to the well permit breakdown, you can open this link.
You can also download the application for permit here.

Taking Care of Our Own.
The recent earthquake in Haiti has caused unimaginable suffering. The topic hit especially close to home for us at Florida Pump Service, because one of our service technicians has relatives living in Haiti at the time of the quack. Fortunately, he was able to make contact with them and they are all safe.
We at Florida Pump Service decided that we should help take up the cause and do a little bit to help those in Haiti. We recently ran a promotion to donate a portion of all our pump and tank sales to the Red Cross and have it marked for Haiti Relief. I am proud to say that at the end of the month of promotion, Florida Pump Service had raised $1,378.23. We hope this donation on behalf of the family at Florida Pump Service can help some families in Haiti.

Rain, Flooding, Drainage, and You
As those of you in Northeast Florida know, we are currently being pummeled by rain and there is no end in sight. It doesn't take long for flooding to start, and if you haven't noticed any yet, it won't be long before you do.
Everyone is aware of the usual flooding spots in their neighborhood or around their work area, but what do you do when water starts pooling in your yard? The water can wreak havoc on your yard, and possibly encroach on your home. What do you do if your drainage system isn't working? You can call us at Florida Pump Service. We carry a wide variety of sump and drainage pumps for your use. We offer almost every brand in the industry, and can repair or diagnose your current pump problems. If you need us to come out for service, just give us a call at 904.269.0202 and our service department will be able to assist you. In many cases, we can come out the same day.
If you don't already have a drainage system in place, it might be too late to save it this go round, but what about the next storm?
At Florida Pump Service, we have a variety of solutions for flooding and drainage applications. One solution we offer is to install a French drain system in your yard to help pump collected water away from your property. We also rent out mud pumps and large dewatering pumps for your bigger needs.
And don't forget, we have several deals and specials for you to take advantage of. Also check out our new blowout specials.
Remember to stay safe out there on the roads, and try and stay dry.

You can find a summary of your watering days by visiting here.
If you want more specific information, such as what to do if you laid new landscaping or you operate a special type of irrigation, then you can find that information here.

New Showroom NOW Open!
Florida Pump Service in conjunction with Pedrollo and PD of Florida, have combined to assemble a new showroom in our Orange Park location. It's an effort on our part to better expose the wide array of Pedrollo pumps to our everyday customers. Our showroom is located in our Orange Park office at 192 Industrial Loop.
On it we showcase: The different and carrying types of pumps, certain lines stainless steel models, and just a few, of the many, sump and effluent pumps Pedrollo has brought into the States. Customers can even get a glimpse of the specialty pumps that Pedrollo has to offer.

Several of the PK (Left) and PQ (Right)turbine pumps are displayed, along with the very versatile CP 600.
There are even several pumps that Pedrollo and us believe will have a big impact on the way we view our pump systems. The Sumo (Right) is on showcase to show the customer the power that can come from submersible applications that require a tight fit.
We even have two wall mounts to display the versatility of the stainless steel in-line multi-stage VL and VLE.
If you get the time, feel free to stop in and take a look around. We might have just the pump you need, or the pump you never knew could work for you. The showroom is open from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday - Friday.
